As Nigeria teachers join their counterparts across the world to celebrate World Teachers Day, pupils have called on the Federal Government to earmark adequate fund to teaching profession.
Some of the pupils who spoke to our correspondent observed paucity of funds as the major challenge facing in the education sector.
A pupil of Bab Fafunwa Grammar Schoool, Ojodu, Lagos, Miss Grace Anthony called on government to increase teachers salaries so that they would be encouraged to give quality teaching to pupils.
“Some of our teachers are not always happy,” she said.
From the responses of some of these pupils, it shows that many of their teachers come to classrooms to express frustration instead of teaching.
Meanwhile, some of the teachers who spoke to our correspondent urged government to approve new minimum wage.
