The death of Donovon Lynch, the cousin of renowned American singer, Pharrell Williams has been confirmed.
Lynch, 25, was reportedly killed over the weekend by police during shootings at Virginia Beach.
The 47-year-old singer who described his cousin as a “bright light” shared a picture Lynch, on Instagram.
Williams wrote, “The loss of these lives is a tragedy beyond measure. My cousin Donovon was killed during the shootings.”
According to Sky News Williams’ cousin was a Virginia Beach resident and was an offensive lineman in the American football team for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, before graduating in 2019.
The singer also stressed that Virginia Beach is the “epitome of hope and tenacity” and that the community will “come out even stronger” from the shootings.
So far, eight people have been hospitalised after sustaining serious and life-threatening injuries in a shooting that occurred just after 11 pm on Friday.
On casualties, a 28-year-old woman named Deshayla .E. Harris has died of a gunshot wound in another shooting that night.
While an identity check was carried out, the police discovered that she could have been an innocent bystander.
