The Federal Government has been called upon to create an avenue for dialogue with the insurgent group in the country.
Peoples Democratic Party Initiative Project Reloaded, Abuja Chapter, made the call at a rally in Abuja on Thursday.
Leader of the group, Chukwudubem Nnebedum, called on the insurgents to cease fire and stop the killing of innocent Nigerians.
"We are telling Boko Haram to cease fire and come out and let us know what they want.
"If they have an issue, they should present it to the government and make their demands known’’, he said.
According to him, due to insurgent’s attacks, people are scared to go about their normal activities, therefore, slowing down the nation’s development.
He called on the group to cease fire to allow the nation to move forward.
Arinze Eze, a member of the initiative, said the rally was organised to plead with the insurgents to stop the killings and also to call on the government to take more drastic measure in resolving the problem.
The rally started at the Federal Secretariat and proceeded to the National Assembly.
