Otu Stresses Integrity as He Clinches Silverbird Man of the Year 2025
Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, has emphasised the importance of integrity and service in leadership after being honoured with the Silverbird Man of the Year Awards 2025.
Otu received the prestigious award on Sunday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, where he reflected on the responsibilities that come with leadership and public trust.
Speaking while receiving the plaque of honour, the governor noted that integrity, service, and sound decision-making have been the driving forces behind his administration’s efforts to uplift communities across the state.
“This award is not just for me, but for every citizen whose trust empowers leaders to make a difference,” he said.
Otu expressed appreciation to Nigerians and members of his team for their support, adding that the recognition would motivate him to intensify efforts aimed at improving the lives of residents of Cross River State and contributing to national development.
The governor had earlier been announced as the 2025 Silverbird Man of the Year by the organisers, in recognition of what they described as his contributions to governance and development in the state.
Since assuming office, his administration has prioritised infrastructure development, industrial expansion, environmental sustainability and social programmes targeted at improving the welfare of citizens, particularly women and vulnerable groups.
Observers note that several initiatives under his leadership, including road construction projects, economic development programmes and industrial investments, have helped stimulate economic activity and improve living conditions in the state.
According to the organisers, the award also recognises Otu’s contributions to public service, governance and community development in Nigeria. 
When his name was announced at the ceremony, the audience responded with a loud applause, acknowledging his leadership style and commitment to transformative initiatives.
The presentation of the Silverbird Man of the Year Award to Otu became one of the defining moments of the evening, highlighting the central theme of the event—celebrating individuals whose vision, dedication and achievements continue to inspire national progress.
