The Silverbird Man of the Year Award is one of the flagship honours of the media group’s annual ceremony, celebrating individuals whose leadership and public service have made measurable impact on national development.

The selection process typically involves competitive nominations across various sectors.

Otu’s recognition is linked to initiatives undertaken during his tenure as Governor of Cross River State, including infrastructure development, industrial expansion efforts, women empowerment programmes, and environmental sustainability projects.

Observers note that these initiatives have drawn attention both within and outside the state.

Prior to his governorship, Otu served in the Senate, where he was involved in legislative advocacy and policy debates, experience analysts say contributed to shaping his administrative approach.

The 2025 award ceremony is scheduled to hold on March 1, 2026, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos. The event is expected to attract political leaders, captains of industry, media executives, and other stakeholders from across the country.

The Silverbird Man of the Year Award has, over the years, recognised prominent figures in politics, business, and entertainment, reinforcing the organisation’s role in spotlighting leadership and influence in Nigeria’s public sphere.
