Osimhen Scores Brace as Galatasaray Clinch 19th Turkish Cup Titl
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his remarkable form as he netted a brace to help Galatasaray secure a 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor and clinch their 19th Turkish Cup title.
The Nigerian forward opened the scoring early and doubled the lead before halftime, taking his tally to 35 goals in all competitions this season—a new record for a foreign player at the club, surpassing the previous mark held by Mario Jardel.
The 26-year-old was substituted in the 80th minute to a standing ovation, making way for Belgian veteran Dries Mertens.
Galatasaray, known as The Yellow and Reds, will now aim to complete a domestic double when they face Kayserispor at RAMS Park on Sunday. A draw would be enough for them to clinch a third consecutive Turkish Super Lig title.
Osimhen’s record-breaking debut season in Turkey has solidified his status as one of Europe’s top strikers and a fan favourite in Istanbul.
