Napoli and Nigerian player, Victor Osimhen has made history, becoming Nigeria’s most prolific goalscorer in the Italian championship ever, after scoring his 32nd Serie A goal for Napoli on Saturday.
Osimhen achieved the feat after scoring in the first half of Napoli’s 2-1 win over Atalanta in Bergamo.
In the match, fellow Nigerian Ademola Lookman in the 19th minute first to put his team ahead after Osimhen found the back of the net in the 23rd minute.
Osimhen broke away from Merih Demiral down the right and pulled it back for Eljif Elmas to take a touch and score from 10 yards in the 35th minute as Napoli fought back to win the top of the table showdown and go eight points clear.
On the goal scoring record, fellow Nigerian, Simy Nwankwo had (31) goals same as Osimhen before the match against Atalanta, which the Napoli star surpassed the former Crotone star’s record.
Other Nigerian internationals, Inter Milan striker, Obafemi Martins, scored 28 goals while Stephen Makinwa and Victor Nsofor bagged 16 and 14 goals respectively for Atalanta and Chievo Verona.
