Ondo Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader Resign
The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Abayomi Akinruntan, and the Majority Leader, Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole, have resigned from their respective positions.
Akinruntan, who represents Ilaje Constituency 1, and Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency 1, are both members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their resignations were announced on the floor of the House during Tuesday’s plenary, presided over by Speaker Olamide Oladiji.
In his resignation letter, Akinruntan cited the need to respect political power-sharing arrangements within the state as the primary reason for stepping down. Ogunmolasuyi’s reason for resigning was not disclosed at the time of the announcement.
The House is expected to initiate the process of filling the vacant leadership positions in the coming days.
