Omoworare Declares Osun Guber Ambition, Blasts PDP Over Infrastructure Stagnation

As political activities gather pace ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, former lawmaker and Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Babajide Omoworare, has declared his intention to run for the state’s top office under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Osogbo, the state capital, Omoworare expressed deep concern over what he described as the stagnation of infrastructure development under the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration. He said the state’s progress had been hindered by misplaced priorities and lack of impactful developmental policies.

The declaration took place during a rally where he was accompanied by a large crowd of supporters and loyalists. He later visited the APC state secretariat to formally notify the party leadership of his intention to contest.

In an interview with journalists, Omoworare emphasized the need to re-evaluate infrastructure priorities in Osun State. He advocated for a new development agenda that focuses on grassroots impact and supports national food security initiatives.

“I am ready to reverse the trend of underdevelopment that has characterized our state in recent years. Osun deserves better, and I am committed to offering purposeful leadership,” he stated.

While expressing his readiness to fly the party’s flag, Omoworare noted that he would fully support any candidate that eventually emerges as the APC governorship candidate in the spirit of party unity.

His declaration marks one of the earliest high-profile entries into the 2026 Osun governorship race, signaling what is expected to be a heated contest in the months ahead
