NSF 2025: Team Ogun Athletes Protest Non-Payment of Allowances
Athletes representing Team Ogun at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) 2025 staged a protest on Wednesday, blocking the entrance of the Games Village in Ilishan Remo over the non-payment of their allowances.
The protest disrupted movement to competition venues, including the MKO Abiola Sports Arena and Alake Sports Complex, Ijeja, Abeokuta.
The cyclists, whose events were scheduled to begin by 8 a.m., were among the worst affected by the disruption.
Despite the setback, Team Ogun has performed strongly at the festival and currently holds third place on the official medals table.
Officials are yet to comment on the cause of the delayed payments or when the athletes will be settled.
