The Nigerian Prisons Service will subject handsets and SIM cards that were recovered from the Kuje Prison inmates including a Boko Haram prisoner to forensic analysis.

The NPS’ Public Relations Officer, Francis Enobore said the analysis would allow the authorities to determine who the inmates had been communicating with while in custody.

The service seized about 25 cell phones from the inmates on Monday resulting in a riot, which led to the lockdown of the facility.

There have been incidences of jailbreak in some parts of the country lately. Following the Kuje jailbreak and Abalaaki jailbreak, some prison officers were reprimanded for allegedling conniving with inmates to escape.
