A Nigerian police officer, Francis Osagie Erhabor who claimed to have rejected ₦864 million bribe, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
On Tuesday, August 9, the former chief superintendent was decorated with his new rank by the State Police Commissioner, CP O.A. Durosinmi.
The unusual development which has triggered comments and reactions from the public actually occurred months after he reportedly attempted to resign over non-promotion in January 2022.
With so much concern about his claim of sincerity of not taking bribe, Erhabor, who joined the force in 1990, said he was only promoted five times in over 30 years in active service.
