Nigeria Opens Strategic Dialogue with Brazil as VP Geraldo Alckmin Arrives in Abuja
ABUJA — Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin has arrived in Abuja to kick off the second session of the Nigeria–Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), a high-level summit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The three-day diplomatic engagement is set to culminate in the signing of over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering a wide range of sectors including defence cooperation, agricultural technology transfer, energy, health, education, and cultural exchange.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is hosting his Brazilian counterpart throughout the visit. The summit formally commenced on Tuesday morning with the opening ceremony held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
Government officials, business leaders, and diplomats from both countries are expected to participate in joint sessions and side meetings that will explore strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
The dialogue marks a renewed commitment by both Nigeria and Brazil to harness their shared historical, economic, and cultural ties for mutual development.
