Dream team VI, the Nigeria Under Nigeria U-23 on Wednesday evening qualified for the 2016 Olympic in Rio after defeating the host country, Senegal during the semifinal of the CAF Under-23 tournament.

Nigeria would have gone down by a goal in the 45th minutes when Goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel ran into a goal bound Senegalese attacker, making the referee to award a penalty for the host country.

Daniel saved the penalty but in the 76th minutes, it was Nigeria that had the opportunity of a penalty when the Senegalese Goalkeeper had a dangerous play against Nigerian forward. He got a red card and conceded a penalty in the process.

captain Oghenekaro Etebo made no mistake from the spot as he slotted in the ball past Senegalese goalkeeper.
Victory meant Nigeria, 1996 champions and 2008 runners up but missing from the last Olympics in London, will be one of Africa’s three flag-bearers at the tournament in Rio de Janeiro next year.
In Saturday’s final, the Nigeria U-23 will take on the winner of the second semifinal between Algeria and South Africa, at the same Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.
