English association football manager, Eddie Howe has been appointed on Monday as the head coach of Newcastle United football club.

The Premier League club appointed Howe to succeed Steve Bruce after he was sacked due to as the club’s takeover by a Saudi-led consortium.

The former Bournemouth manager who has signed a contract until the summer of 2024, , has not been in management since he left the club in August 2020, following relegation.

In reaction to the development, Howe who is taking over with Newcastle 19th in the table, five points from safety after 11 games said, “This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us.”

“I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players,” he added.

“I would like to thank the club’s owners for this opportunity and thank the club’s supporters for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to begin our journey together.”

Before Howe’s appointment as the head coach of the Magpies, several contacts were made to bring Unai Emery on board, but the Villarreal manager rejected the offer.
