NDLEA Arrests Woman Concealing Cocaine in Body, Handbag at Port Harcourt Airpor
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a woman attempting to smuggle cocaine to Iran through the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State.
According to a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday, the suspect, identified as Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, was apprehended on May 3, 2025, as she prepared to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha.
Obehi, reportedly dressed in a hijab in an effort to avoid security scrutiny, was found with large quantities of cocaine concealed in her private parts, inside her stomach, and in a false bottom of her handbag.
Babafemi noted that the arrest followed actionable intelligence and was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to curb the trafficking of illicit drugs through Nigerian airports.
The NDLEA has intensified surveillance and screening measures at major entry and exit points across the country to combat drug trafficking and protect national and international airspace from being exploited by criminal networks.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, with the suspect expected to face prosecution in accordance with Nigerian drug laws.
