The Nigerian Navy says it has rescued four officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), who were abducted on the Bonny River yesterday by suspected sea pirates.

Operating Base (FOB), Bonny, Navy Capt. Kola Oguntuga, confirmed the rescue in a telephone chat with our correspondent today in port Harcourt.

Captain kola Oguntuga said the four immigration officers were rescued during a surprise operation by the Maritime component of the Joint Task
Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe, comprising the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Bonny and Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS), Pathfinder, Port Harcourt.

Our correspondent reports that the immigration officers serving in Bonny Island were abducted early Tuesday on the water way while traveling from Bonny to Port Harcourt on official assignment.
