National Youth Council: Babangida Isah Elected President

A youth leader from Kogi State, Babangida Isah, has been elected the new President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) following a tightly contested election process.

The vote, which was overseen by the National Transition Committee (NTC), was praised by participants for its transparency and fairness, drawing a close to a period of transition for the influential youth body.

Mr. Isah secured his victory with 243 votes out of 497 accredited votes, narrowly defeating his main challenger, Ahmad Abubakar from Kebbi State, who received 228 votes. Twenty-six votes were declared invalid.

The NYCN serves as a key platfo

In his new role, President Isah will lead the council in promoting youth empowerment, education, and civic engagement for millions of young Nigerians. His stated vision is to inspire and mobilise greater participation in the country’s economic and political growth.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Isah thanked the delegates and pledged to prioritise inclusivity, transparency, and accountability within the council’s operations. His election is anticipated to herald a new phase of leadership and progress for the organisation.
