Basil Onyinyechi who represents Anambra state has emerged the winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria at the grand finale of the pageant on Saturday night.

Onyinyechi Basil beat 20 other delegates to emerge winner as she takes over from Chidimma Adetshina who won it in 2024.
In the keenly contested event, Miss Lagos emerged the first runner-up; Miss Bayelsa emerged second runner-up; Miss Ogun, third runner-up while Miss Akwa Ibom emerged as the Miss Supranational.

Onyinyechi Basil works with one of South Korea’s top conglomerates in a male-dominated field, overseeing operations across West Africa from Nigeria—a role that has challenged her, shaped her, and taught her to lead with both strength and grace. Outside work, she enjoys singing and is deeply passionate about improving maternal healthcare in Nigeria.
Her advocacy stems from a personal loss—her younger brother, who died due to ignorance and poor maternal care. Through the Miss Universe Nigeria platform, Onyinyechi is committed to championing better maternal healthcare, particularly for women in marginalized communities. She believes no woman should endure the pain her mother faced and no child should be denied a chance at life because vital support and education were out of reach. For her, every heartbeat deserves a chance, and she is determined to be the voice that ensures it is heard.

Earlier in the race, Basil had posited that her intention is to be an inspiration to her generation, adding, “If crowned as Miss Universe Nigeria, I will use the platform to inspire my generation and leave a great impact of humanity after my reign.””
