Officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps have been warned against extorting motorists, during Yuletide.
This warning was disclosed by the Zonal Commanding Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Zone 12, Assistant Corp Marshal, Rotimi Adeleye, The Punch reports.
On the warning, Adeleye who gave the warning while speaking with journalists at the FRSC Zonal Headquarters comprising Bauchi, Yobe and Borno States, said any of its officers found guilty won’t be spared.
Speaking further, Adeleye revealed that the corps had a collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission and the Department of State Services to fish out, arrest and prosecute any operative found wanting, even as he called on the public to help in fishing out the bad eggs among the officials.
While reacting further to the development, Adeleye said, “It is not only during this period alone; all along in the corps, there has been zero tolerance for corruption.
“From the national level of the corps, there is an understanding among the ICPC, the DSS and the corps. All the FRSC workers are consciously aware of fact that any operative that falls into the hands of the DSS and the ICPC, is on his own.”
On other measures to be implored in order to achieve the development, the Zonal FRSC boss said over 1,300 officers and men would be deployed across the three states to ensure an effective operation during the Yuletide.
