Man Falls from 26-Storey Cocoa House in Ibadan, Investigation Underway
A man, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, reportedly fell from one of the upper floors of the iconic Cocoa House building in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday morning, sparking panic among occupants and the business community within the premises.
Sources say the incident occurred around the 23rd floor, which houses a museum, though it remains unclear whether the fall was accidental or intentional. The condition of the individual was unknown at the time of reporting, but fears are high that the fall may have been fatal.
Cocoa House, a 26-storey structure and West Africa’s first skyscraper, is managed by the Odu’a Investment Company, which has confirmed the incident in a statement released Monday. The firm stated that investigations are already underway in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Efforts to obtain further details from the Oyo State Police Command have not yet yielded results, as officials have yet to issue an official response.
The area was cordoned off shortly after the incident as onlookers gathered, and business operations were temporarily disrupted.
