MALAMI CONFIRMS EFCC INVITATION, VOWS TO HONOUR SUMMON
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed receiving an official invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to appear before the anti-graft agency.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria made this known in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page on Friday, emphasizing his readiness to cooperate fully with the commission.
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” Malami wrote.
Describing himself as a strong advocate of accountability and transparency, the former minister stated that his decision to publicly disclose the invitation aligns with his long-standing principle of openness in public service.
Malami served as Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The specific details of the EFCC’s investigation involving the former minister have not been officially disclosed.
