A chief Magistrate in the Rivers State Judiciary, K.E George, has announced his voluntary retirement from service.
In a letter he addressed to the chief judge of Rivers State, K.E George said his regrettable decision was informed by what he referred to as the appointment of a ‘quasi-military administration’ to run the affairs of a modern Rivers state.
He explained that this type of governance system is not only alien but also runs against the hallowed principles of the legal profession.
K.E. George, who has worked as a magistrate for 16 years, said continuing to work under the current sitting would amount to submission or acceptance of the quasi-military administration in Rivers state.
