The 2015 Brit Awards — basically London's posher but more insignificant version of the Grammys — were held Wednesday, and it was a mindless two hours of Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift talking about how much they loved each other, until Madonna brought the house down.
Actually, she just brought herself down.
The singer closed out the award show with a Matador-inspired performance of "Living For Love." But just seconds into her act, she was yanked backwards off a staircase set prop, after struggling to remove her cape. The crowd gasped as she hit the floor.
But Madonna is a true professional. She recovers faster than a ray of light.
Really, if you watch the fall backwards, it is Madonna rising from the ashes to lord dominion over the pop world again.
After the tumble, Madonna assured her fans that she's OK, writing this in an Instagram caption: "Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I'm fine!"
