Liverpool have secured a place in the 2022 Champions League final after beating Villarreal 3-2 at home on Tuesday.

Red’s star, Sadio Mane grabbed the winner to raise the goal tally of his team from two to three in the 74th minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s men who were threatened by Unai Emery’s men in the first half, came back strong in the second half.

Villarreal’s Boulaye Dia scored the first goal three minutes into the game from close range after Etienne Capoue fired a left-wing cross back into his path.

The Reds were able to contain Villarreal after Capoue was sent off for a second bookable offence.

They also used the opportunity effectively, especially in the final five minutes to book a place with either Manchester City or Real Madrid in Paris on May 28.

Fabinho also played his own role in the victory by registering a goal just past the hour while Luis Diaz who came in as substitute made it 2-2 with a header before Mane completed a 5-2 triumph on aggregate with the 139th goal of Liverpool’s season.

This feat for Liverpool is their highest ever in a single campaign.
