In the face of harsh economic conditions and the burden of out of the pocket payment for health, the Lagos State Government's hopes to reach those in need of health care through its annual free medical outreach.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris during the first press conference of the Ministry for the year made this known yesterday.
According to him, the scope of services to be provided include: screening for non-communicable disease especially hypertension and diabetes, treatment of common ailments, HIV counselling and testing, among other health care services.
The commissioner also hints that the increased burden on the health facilities among other factors have necessitated plans to commence the state's health insurance scheme this year.
