King Salman of Saudi Arabia has arrived at a planned Red Sea megacity to “rest and recuperate.”
This development was disclosed on Thursday, after the 84-year-old ruler underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder, Aljazeera reports.
The health of King Salman has been a thing of concern to many people; but kingdom has sought to quell speculation over the heath of the ageing monarch.
Meanwhile, a brief statement concerning his journey to the megacity was released through the official Saudi Press Agency.
The statement read: “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman arrived in NEOM, where he will spend some time to rest and recuperate,”
At the scene of what appeared to be a royal palace in NEOM, the state television showed the king standing on an escalator descending from a plane and later arriving in a convoy of cars.
So far, an area in the kingdom’s northwest is currently under development.
After a 10-day stay following a laparoscopic surgery to remove his gall bladder, the king left Riyadh’s King Faisal hospital on July 30, the royal court confirms.
