King Charles Hosts President Macron and First Lady Brigitte at Windsor Castle
King Charles III and Queen Camilla rolled out the red carpet for French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, on the first day of their three-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
The royal welcome began with fanfare and tradition as the Macrons were greeted earlier at RAF Northolt by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine. The couple was then escorted to Windsor Castle, where a ceremonial carriage procession through the historic town was met with cheers from an enthusiastic crowd.
At Windsor Castle, President Macron expressed his desire to strengthen UK-France relations, stating his hope to “deepen co-operation with the UK in a concrete, effective, and lasting way.”
The visit underscores efforts by both nations to revitalise bilateral ties post-Brexit, with talks expected to touch on defence collaboration, climate action, and economic partnerships.
The state banquet and additional engagements are scheduled for the coming days, marking one of the most high-profile diplomatic visits of the year.
