The Peoples Democratic Party has described the Kano State gubernatorial supplementary election as mere allocation of figures to favour the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan said this in a statement made available to journalists, adding that the PDP governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf won the polls.

The statement read in part, ”  The supplementary election in the state is mere figure allocating exercise by compromised INEC officials.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thus rejected the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state as the governor-elect by the Independent National EIectoral Commission (INEC).

The party said its candidate, Abba K. Yusuf, is the rightful winner of the keenly contested election, saying any declaration that does not reflect such cannot stand.

“The whole world knows that the PDP and its candidate, Abba Yusuf, won the Kano state governorship election since March 9, 2019, having fulfilled the constitutional requirement of securing the highest number of votes and the statutory 25% in two-third of the state. “The so-called governorship supplementary election in Kano is a national disgrace and a mere figure allocating exercise by compromised INEC officials, who collaborated with power drunk politicians in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to award results to the APC candidate.

The state returning officer, Professor Bello Shehu, announced that Ganduje scored a total vote of 1,033,695 while his closest opponent Abba Yusuf polled 1,024,713 votes.
