The Kaduna State Government has raised concerns over the low turnout of citizens in the ongoing voter registration exercise and called for intensified mobilisation across the state.
Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, said on Thursday that Governor Uba Sani had directed pragmatic steps to boost participation, describing the exercise as crucial to strengthening democracy and inclusiveness.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting convened to review the challenges, Maiyaki urged local government chairmen, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and the media to play stronger roles in sensitising eligible residents.
According to preliminary figures from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kaduna State and the wider North-West are currently lagging behind in registration.
