World governing body, International Table Tennis Federation has commended Nigeria’s ping pong king, Aruna Quadri for his resilience and tremendous efforts at promoting the sport in Africa.

The ITTF hailed Quadri’s “Never say die spirit” which has seen him rise to become one of the Top 25 table tennis players in the world, citing his exploit at the recently concluded World Tour, the Bulgaria Open.

The 31-year-old, Oyo State-born star beat Japanese superstar, Jun Mizutani in an epic seven-game thriller (8-11, 11-9, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 4-11, 13-11) to reach the men’s singles semi-finals at the Bulgaria, after eliminating China’s Ma Te earlier.

Although, the ITTF Challenge Plus Nigeria Open champion eventually lost to another top rated Chinese, China’s Zhao Zihao the world body found him worthy of praise for his strong will and determination to succeed in the sport.
