The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.have started rescue operations where a 20 storey skyscraper residential building under construction located on Alexander Road, Ikoyi Lagos has collapsed on Monday, leaving four people dead.

After the incident occurred it was revealed that the structural engineer that was supervising the construction work withdrew from site after they discovered that the site engineers were using sub standard materials.


According to sources, four have been confirmed dead and their bodies recovered from the collapsed building while effort is ongoing to ensure more rescue as of the time of filing this report.

This is according to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who spoke to newsmen at the scene of the incident.

As at the time of this report, the cause of the collapse is yet to be known.

 The development has attracted notable personalities to the site where the building collapsed.

After confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Nosa Okunbo, , said, “A 25-storey building collapsed by Musliu Junction, Ikoyi, Lagos. LASEMA is on top of the situation.”

Also, the Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, noted that heavy-duty equipment and life detection equipment have been deployed to the scene.
