The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has directed the launch of "Bail is Free" campaign in all thirty six states of the country, including the FCT.

Officially, the campaign started yesterday, from Niger State Police command, 'B' division in Minna.  

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the campaign is meant to eradicate extortion by police officers.

Mr. Jimoh Moshood also said that the IG’s promise to make the Police Force reliable and accountable will be fulfilled through the “Bail is Free” campaign.  

He encouraged Nigerians to support the campaign and ensure that the stickers are pasted in conspicuous areas especially on their vehicles.

He also called on traditional rulers, community and religious leaders as well as other stakeholders to report any erring Police officer, who demands money for bail, to the Commissioner of Police or to the Force Public Relations Officer.

He stated that the X-Squad of the Nigeria Police Force has been given an assignment to monitor compliance to “Bail is Free” campaign in all the states of Nigeria and arrest any erring police officer.
