His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri, has promised not to embarrass his people with his conduct and carriage as the foremost traditional monarch of the Itsekiris.
He said this during a news conference in his palace, Warri, Delta State on Monday, saying that he would ensure a transparent reign and would not betray the confidence and trust repose in him by his people.
“I will not engage in any matter that will embarrass our people. We must maintain and even improve on the fragile peace Warri now enjoys,” he said.
He expressed concern over the misrepresentation of his title following his enthronement, warning that the development may not be pardoned by the palace if it was repeated.
Ojomo of Warri, Chief Yaya Pessu who expressed the concern on behalf of the monarch said, “From the moment he wore the crown, our king henceforth is to be addressed as His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri.”
