The highest ever single-day COVID-19 death toll of 6,148 has been recorded in India.

This happened after an eastern state sharply raised its figures to account for people who succumbed to the disease at home or in private hospitals.

Sources stated that the situation in one of India’s poorest states, Bihar is a critical one, since the health department revised its total COVID-related death toll on Wednesday to more than 9,400 from about 5,400.

After a surge occurred by 94,052 in the past 24 hours, the country’s total COVID caseload now stands at nearly 29.2 million

Since casualties are not reducing, the health ministry has disclosed that it now stands at 359,676,

For three days consecutively, India has recorded fewer than 100,000 daily new COVID cases. The health ministry has also reported that active cases stand at nearly 1.17 million.

Considering the critical situation in the country, the health ministry has not relented in its efforts to savage the situation.  One of the efforts made is to administer vaccine doses in the country.

In the last 24 hours, the health ministry have succeeded in administering a total of 242.7 million COVID-19 vaccine doses nationwide, including 3.4 million.
