Businesses will likely reopen in Texas at full capacity next week. as the state plans to lift its mask requirement.
This development was announced by Governor Greg Abbott. Texas is the largest US state to end its mask mandate.
The Republican, while speaking on Tuesday said, “It is now time to open Texas 100%,”
Mr Abbott has faced criticism from his party over the measure, which was imposed last July.
The coronavirus restrictions are not taken likely by the US president, Joe Biden.His administration has made it clear that the measures are still necessary.
Apart from Texas; Michigan, Louisiana, and Mississippi, also got the announcement which also ended its mask mandate.
So far, there are positive gestures and report about the roll-out of vaccinations against Covid-19. It has boosted confidence in a return to pre-pandemic life in the US.
President Biden has a target to make sure that the US have enough vaccines for every adult in the country by the end of May.
Yet the wave of reopenings has put states at odds with the Biden administration and its senior health officials, who have reacted with dismay to the relaxation of coronavirus measures at a precarious time in the pandemic.
