A leading expert has warned that Coronavirus could kill 400,000 people in the UK if it sweeps across the country.

Reports from Evening Standard reveals that, Neil Ferguson, a Scientist and Professor of the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, said “this is the one I’m scared of” when asked about the killer virus, known as Covid-19, in an interview with Channel 4.

Prof Ferguson also replied that there is a “potentially” risk of its spread, when asked if the virus could spread to 60 per cent of the UK population, which latest estimates suggest could happen across the world if the virus is not controlled.

Concerning the percentage in terms of mortality, he said it will be at the rate of one per cent, meaning that  400,000 people could die from the illness in the UK.
