Unidentified gunmen have killed 17 people during a raid on the Andoyaku village in Taraba on Tuesday.
Taraba police spokesman Joseph Kwaji told AFP that police were still searching for some villagers who went missing after the attack.
"Some unknown gunmen attacked Kauyen-Yaku village and killed 17 people while four others were injured.
"Several homes were burnt in the attack by the gunmen who came from neighbouring Nasarawa state."
Channels reports that the attack follows shortly after the establishment of a peace committee in the state.
According to the report, Taraba's acting governor Garba Umar has ordered that more soldiers be deployed to Andoyaku and re-opened the Takum General Hospital.
