Gunmen Attack Zonkwa Police Headquarters, Killing Two Officers
Two police officers were killed and two others injured in a brazen night attack on the Divisional Police Headquarters in Zonkwa, Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The assailants also freed several inmates during the assault, which took place on Friday night.
The incident is believed to stem from the recent arrest of suspects accused of vandalizing a transformer in Ramai, a community approximately five kilometers from Zonkwa, the administrative headquarters of Zango-Kataf LGA.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers, reportedly originating from Kachia town in neighboring Kachia LGA, targeted the police station after learning that their alleged gang members were in custody. Believing their accomplices were detained there, the gunmen launched a coordinated assault to secure their release.
Authorities are investigating the matter, with heightened security measures implemented in the area to prevent further unrest.
