CELEBRITY CHEF HILDA BACI KICKS OFF WORLD JOLLOF RICE FESTIVAL
The pots are steaming, the stage is set, and Lagos is buzzing with excitement as celebrity chef Hilda Baci embarks on another Guinness World Record attempt- this time, to cook the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice.
Baci, who rose to global fame in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon is now aiming to prepare 250 bags of rice in what she describes as “a cultural festival beyond the kitchen.”
Speaking with our correspondent, Esther Oke Adetunji, at the event’s opening, Hilda Baci revealed that the idea was conceived two years ago with the aim of showcasing Nigeria’s most beloved dish on an unprecedented scale.
Although it took eight months of hard work and came with numerous challenges, she expressed her joy at finally seeing it come to fruition, adding that “this is not just about breaking a record, It’s about celebrating Nigeria, our food, our music, and our community.
