Governor Sanwo-Olu Urges Lagos APC executives on inclusivity, fairness
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the Newly elected executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State to prioritise inclusivity, fairness and equity in the administration of the party, urging them to position the state chapter as a model for others across the country.
The governor gave the charge on Tuesday at the inauguration of the newly elected state executive members of the party in Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu says the Lagos chapter has once again demonstrated organisational strength and cohesion, describing its structure as second to none in the country.
He attributed the outcome of the state congress to unity of purpose among party leaders and members, stressing that the cohesion displayed at ward, local government and state levels underscores the party’s internal stability.
He also acknowledged the national leadership of the APC and members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their role in overseeing the congress process from the ward to the state level.
Sanwo-Olu congratulated the state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi and other members of the executive, including those re-elected and newly elected, expressing confidence in their ability to deepen internal democracy within the party.
Lagos APC congress chairman from the national body, Stella Okotete, who conducted the election stated that the congress should be seen as a contest among family members and not enemies.
In his vote of assurance, the party chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said the party would continue to lead the way in delivering good governance and sustainable development for the people.
Ojelabi said, “I extend our deepest appreciation for your unwavering and infallible support for the party which has been instrumental to our success and growth.
He also appreciated members of the State Assembly for their dedication and commitment to protect democracy on a steady scale.
Ojelabi thanked members of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC for their guidance and counsel, which according to him was important in steering the affairs of the party.
