GOVERNOR MUTFWANG NAMED SILVERBIRD GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR 2025 FOR HIS TRANSFORMATIVE AND IMPACTFUL LEADERSHIP

The Editorial Board of the Silverbird Group, owners of Silverbird Television and Rhythm FM has nominated the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, as Silverbird Governor of the Year 2025, in recognition of his outstanding performance and transformative leadership since assuming office in May 2023.

Presenting the nomination letter to Governor Mutfwang in Lagos on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Editorial Board and Chief Creative Officer of the Silverbird Group, Mr. Jacob Akinyemi Johnson, accompanied by the Head of News, Rhythm FM, Mr. Mustapha Isah, and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Bola Salako, said the Board arrived at its decision after a rigorous and independent assessment of the Governor’s life-changing interventions and people-focused governance.

The letter, signed by the Founder of the Silverbird Group, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, commended Governor Mutfwang for demonstrating uncommon courage and an unwavering commitment to supporting federal security agencies in confronting the complex security challenges in Plateau State.

According to the letter: “Reports from our correspondents in Plateau State, coupled with insights from our editor who participated in the Nigerian Guild of Editors’ inspection tour of your projects, clearly show that you have made remarkable progress across key sectors of the economy.
Your achievements in road construction and infrastructure development, education, agriculture, tourism, and health are outstanding. Additionally, your commitment to supporting federal security agencies in addressing the state’s security challenges is highly commendable.”

Johnson explained that the Silverbird Man of the Year Award, established two decades ago by Senator Murray-Bruce was instituted to honour exceptional Nigerians who leverage their positions to uplift the lives of the less privileged. He noted that Governor Mutfwang’s nomination reflects the measurable impact of his policies and the renewed sense of hope his administration has restored to the people.

Responding, Governor Mutfwang expressed profound gratitude for what he described as a “deeply fulfilling honour,” saying the nomination affirms his administration’s relentless commitment to laying a solid and sustainable foundation for rapid growth and steady development in Plateau State.

He recalled that upon assuming office, his administration took deliberate steps to restore citizens’ confidence in governance by prioritizing security, inclusive leadership, essential social amenities, and transformative projects aimed at protecting and uplifting all residents.

Governor Mutfwang stated: “I was brought up in the philosophy that service to humanity is not for self-glorification. For me, being entrusted with public office is a privilege. Once chosen among millions to lead, you automatically become indebted to the people and must justify that trust by working tirelessly for their wellbeing. That has always been my guiding principle.

“When I came in, I emphasized that paying salaries is not an achievement but a right. While I still believe Nigerian workers are underpaid, the reality is that resources are limited. The sustainable solution is to grow our economy so we can generate more revenue to confront these challenges.”

The Governor thanked the Silverbird Management for the honour and dedicated the award to the resilient people of Plateau State, acknowledging their trust, sacrifices, and steadfast support, particularly market women, youths, and the less privileged who stood firm to enthrone his administration.
