GOVERNOR MAKINDE MEETS PRESIDENT TINUBU OVER GOVERNANCE ISSUES

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, saying the meeting was to discuss governance-related issues.

The visit comes amid ongoing political realignments, as key stakeholders across the country begin strategic consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, Governor Makinde, who arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 3:30 p.m., dismissed any political undertone to the meeting while speaking with journalists after the visit.

Makinde, a leader of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noted that President Tinubu is not only the President of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but the President of all Nigerians.

“THE PRESIDENT IS THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA, NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE APC, AND WE’RE TALKING ABOUT GOVERNANCE HERE,” MAKINDE SAID. “SO I CAME TO DISCUSS WITH THE PRESIDENT SOME GOVERNANCE ISSUES, BASICALLY.”
