Gov Yusuf Suspends Political Aide Over Inflammatory Remarks on Kwankwas
Kano – May 19, 2025
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has suspended his Senior Special Reporter, Ibrahim Rabi’u, with immediate effect over what the state government described as “unguarded and inflammatory statements” relating to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s alleged defection.
The suspension directive was issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim, and announced in a press release signed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House.
According to the statement, Rabi’u’s comments were unauthorised and do not represent the position of the Kano State Government. The administration emphasised that public officers must maintain discipline and refrain from statements that could inflame political tensions or mislead the public.
The aide’s remarks had circulated widely on social media and news platforms, prompting concerns among political observers and Kwankwasiyya loyalists, as Kwankwaso remains a significant political figure in the state and national politics.
The government reiterated its commitment to upholding decorum and professionalism among its appointees and warned that any further breaches of conduct would be met with appropriate sanctions.
