At least one person has been found dead after a 12-storey residential building partially collapsed in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Currently, a massive rescue operation is taking place at the venue of the collapse which is said to have occurred at around 02:00 (06:00 GMT).

Part of the activity being carried out by the rescue team is a serious search for survivors while they combine through the rubble, as they were able to pull a boy out alive.

According to Images from Surfside, north of Miami Beach, the activity has resulted into the piling of debris on one side of the building.

Apart from the dead person, there are fears that others are trapped, while at least eight people have been reported injured, US media reports.

A combined effort of rescue is being carried out by the police, who are assisting with the rescue operation, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue have claimed that they had sent 80 vehicles to the scene.
