Former President Donald Trump has been cleared over the deadly January attack on the US Capitol.

Trump was accused on a single charge of causing a deadly insurrection, BBC reports.

In during the trial, Fifty-seven senators voted to convict him while 43 found him not guilty’

Interestingly, seven Republicans were against the former President and 10 short of the number needed to convict him.

Meanwhile, top Republican Mitch McConnel lambasted Trump’s election ‘lies’ but said he could not convict him because he is now a private citizen.

A statement from Trump called the verdict a witch hunt but vowed to carry on the fight.
