Late former President Nelson Mandela’s daughter, Zindzi Mandela has died died at the age of 59.
Zindzi Mandela was Nelson Mandela’s sixth child and second with Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, his second wife.
His daughter was the youngest of all the children of the first black South African President and an anti-apartheid activist.
On her death, BBC reports from public broadcaster SABC revealed that she died in a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of Monday morning.
Before her death, she was serving as the South African ambassador to Denmark.
Meanwhile, the reason for her death was not immediately revealed, but Many condolence messages have been coming in since the death of Zindzi.
Commenting on the death of Zindzi, President Cyril Ramaphosa in a statement stated that, Zindzi Mandela had “during our years of struggle brought home the inhumanity of the apartheid system and the unshakeable resolve of our fight for freedom”.
Going memory lane, it can be recalled that, Ms Mandela had been posted to Denmark in 2015 and had been designated to become South Africa’s head of mission in Monrovia, Liberia.
Minister of International Relations Naledi Pandoalso also said: “Zindzi will not only be remembered as a daughter of our struggle heroes, but as a struggle heroine in her own right.”
