President Donald Trump has fired two key impeachment witnesses, Alexander Vindman and Gordon Sondland on Friday, after his acquittal.
The two witnesses Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine expert at the National Security Council, and US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland who hold key positions in the US.
Speaking about the dismissal, an adviser to Trump said, firings of the major impeachment witnesses was meant to send a message that siding against the President will not be tolerated.
Speaking to CNN the adviser stated that, the dismissal was necessary. In his words, “Flushing out the pipes,” “It was necessary.”
According to a statement from his attorney, Vindman was pushed out of his role Friday months earlier than expected,.
Vindman he had been telling colleagues in recent weeks he would likely leave soon, even though he was not slated to leave until July.
Sondland disclosed in a statement Friday that he is being recalled from his post.
