President George Weah of Liberia is facing a protest staged by citizens of his country in the capital, Monrovia.

The protesters have stormed the Capitol Hill, which is the seat of power, having banners in their possession.  As the protest continue, the number of protester increased.

On the update of the protest, Dozens of riot police, backed by an armoured tank, have not been able to interfere, despite the deployment.

Considering the security of the  protesters, government gave an assurance that it would provide security for them.

On the reason for the protest, the protesters have demanded for a publication of the former footballer’s assets before and after he became president in January, 2018.

Another thing they demanded from the president is an explanation on how he  spent $25m (£19m) the government withdrew from the Federal Reserve Account in 2018 that was supposed to stabilise the economy.

As a result of this development, businesses in Monrovia and other parts of the country were closed on Monday morning with deserted roads.

Many civil servants stayed away from work, even though the ministry of education had announced that schools were reopening following the festive season.

As for some parents, they decided kept their children away from school, because of the situation and condition of their environment.
