First Lady Remi Tinubu to Nigerians: “When Women Rise, Nigeria Rises”

ABUJA — The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has called for deliberate investment in the Nigerian woman, asserting that female empowerment is a prerequisite for national prosperity.

In a message commemorating the 2026 International Women’s Day on March 8, the First Lady joined the global community to celebrate the “strength, courage, tenacity, and achievements” of women and girls.

Addressing this year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” Senator Tinubu emphasized that supporting women transcends mere charity. Instead, she characterized it as a strategic investment in the nation’s collective future.

“When we give women access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, leadership platforms, justice, and equity, we gain stronger families, more prosperous communities, and a more inclusive nation,” the First Lady stated.

She concluded her commemorative message with a rallying cry for gender-inclusive growth, stating, “When women rise, Nigeria rises!”
